All awards are included within a specific competition. If鈥痽ou've鈥痜ound a specific award on the Search for Awards page, check which application it belongs to ("Application to apply for" field). Next, check the timeline for it in the鈥�Undergraduate Awards Calendar.鈥�

If the application appears in the calendar, it will be available in your during the application period. If it doesn鈥檛 appear, check the Award details to application instructions. You can also contact the department/organization offering the award.

U91探花鈥痑pplies鈥痚quitable鈥痙istributions to all internal awards selections. We aim to distribute awards among as many鈥痚ligible鈥痵tudents as possible.

The largest entrance awards鈥痑t鈥疷91探花鈥痑re鈥痯restige awards.鈥疘f鈥痽ou鈥檙e鈥痚ntering鈥痜rom high鈥痵chool,鈥痵ubmit鈥痑 prestige awards application by Dec. 1.鈥疨restige awards are awarded to our highest-achieving entering students.鈥疶hey鈥檙e鈥痺orth鈥�$15,000 to more than $30,000鈥痑nd鈥痬ost鈥痗an be renewed annually.

Most high school entrance awards and undergraduate continuing awards don鈥檛鈥痗over鈥痑ll鈥痶uition, fees鈥痮r living鈥痗osts.

If鈥痽ou're鈥痑 domestic student, you鈥痵hould also explore government student loans to help pay for鈥痽our degree.

If鈥痽ou're鈥痑n international student, we recommend鈥痵ecuring鈥痮ther funding before committing to studying at鈥疷91探花.

There are external organizations that offer high-value awards to domestic and international students. Our鈥�external awards page鈥痠s a good place to begin your research.

When you search the鈥�undergraduate awards database, awards that can be renewed will have "renewable" in the title.鈥�

To receive the award in future years, you must meet the renewal requirements. You can find those details in the award鈥檚 terms.

The scholarship is based on your admission average. It鈥檚 calculated using the specifically-required courses for your program. This means it may be different from your overall high school average.

You must鈥痬aintain鈥�95% in your final admission average鈥痶o receive award. It will be rescinded if your final admission average is lower than 95%.鈥�

International students should arrange other sources of funding. Scholarships and awards usually cover only part of tuition, fees and living costs.

If鈥痽ou're鈥痑 mature entering student who hasn't鈥痶aken鈥痑ny鈥痯ost-secondary level courses, you may be eligible to apply for entering student awards based on your high school admission average.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

If鈥痽ou鈥檝e鈥痗ompleted four or more post-secondary level courses, you鈥檙e鈥痗onsidered鈥痑鈥痶ransfer鈥痵tudent. Transfer students鈥痗an apply for鈥痠nternal competitive awards after鈥痜inishing鈥痮ne full year of studies at鈥疷91探花.鈥疉s a continuing undergraduate student,鈥痽ou can also鈥�search our website鈥痜or鈥痑wards, scholarships and bursaries鈥痶hat give鈥痯references for mature students.

If鈥痽ou鈥檙e鈥痵tarting鈥痑n after-degree undergraduate program, you鈥檙e鈥痮nly eligible for faculty nominated awards and scholarships.鈥疉fter you鈥痟ave begun your studies, you may be eligible for awards available to current students. See the webpage for more information.

To be fair to all students who鈥痑pply鈥痮n time, we鈥痗an鈥檛鈥痑ccept late applications for鈥痷ndergraduate鈥痑wards.鈥�

We use your鈥痜inancial information鈥痶o assess鈥痠f you qualify鈥痜or bursaries and awards that require鈥痑 financial deficit (when your鈥痳esources鈥痑re less鈥痶han鈥痽our鈥痚xpected expenses).鈥�

When reporting鈥痽our鈥痳esources,鈥痠nclude your current savings鈥痑nd your鈥痯arent鈥檚鈥痮r鈥痽our own鈥痠ncome from the鈥痯revious鈥痶ax year.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

When reporting expenses,鈥痚stimate your expected expenses for鈥痶he period noted in the application. If you鈥痭eed help,鈥痷se the U91探花鈥�Cost Estimator Tool鈥痑s a guide.

If鈥痽ou're鈥痟aving鈥痠ssues鈥痚ntering鈥痠nformation鈥痠n your鈥痑wards application,鈥痳ead the error message鈥痗arefully.鈥疘t will point you to the鈥痜ield鈥痶hat's鈥痓locking you from saving the application. If鈥痽ou鈥痗an鈥檛鈥痜ind鈥痶he鈥痜ield, please take a screenshot of your error message and鈥�contact Student Financial Support.

Competitive awards鈥痳equire students to鈥痵ubmit鈥痑n鈥痑pplication鈥痶o be considered. Recipients are chosen鈥痓ased on the terms of reference鈥痠ndicated鈥痜or each award within the competition. Terms of reference for all awards can be found in the鈥�searchable award database.鈥�&苍产蝉辫;

Nominated awards recipients are鈥痵elected based on terms of reference by the applicable department or faculty. Recipients are notified by Student Financial Support.鈥�

Undergraduate award鈥痳ecipients鈥痑re notified鈥痑ccording to each award鈥檚鈥痗ompetition timeline.鈥痀ou can find the鈥痑pplication, deadline, notification, and payment鈥痙ates鈥痠n the鈥�awards calendar.鈥�

If鈥痽ou鈥痙on鈥檛鈥痟ave鈥痑ny鈥痷npaid鈥痶uition/fees on your鈥痵tudent account,鈥痚xcess award funds鈥痺ill be鈥痯aid鈥痶o you after the add/drop deadline each semester. Once鈥痯rocessed through鈥痯ayroll,鈥痶hey'll鈥痑ppear on your account as a "refund鈥濃�痑nd鈥痓e paid out鈥痶o you鈥痓y direct deposit鈥痮n鈥痶he next eligible payroll date.鈥疌heck鈥痽our award notification letter for鈥痶he specific鈥痯ayment timeline.

Check to see if your award has been applied to your tuition and fees: 

1. Go to the My Financial Tab in your Student Centre,
2. Click Payments under the Outstanding charges section (see page 4 in this Understanding your fees guide (PDF)), and
3. Click the award name to see where the funds have been applied.

If the award has been issued as a refund but you haven鈥檛 received it, your banking information may have been submitted incorrectly or too late. 

In that case, a cheque would have been issued to your Canadian address on file. If you don鈥檛 have a Canadian address listed, the funds wouldn鈥檛 be issued.
