2024-2025 CIH Graduate Student Fellow Jamie Michaels Celebrates Release of Film "I Draw Them the Best I Can"
Former CIH Frances Spratt Graduate Student Fellow and current Postdoctoral Fellow Jamie Michaels has released a new documentary film "I Draw Them the Best I Can" which will screen this week at the upcoming Toronto Jewish Film Festival. Filmmakers Jamie Michaels (author of the graphic novel Christie Pitts) and Liam Karp sensitively tell the story of Canadian Holocaust survivor Adam Policzer. When Germany invaded Hungary in 1944, Adam was hidden by neighbours and watched as his family was taken away. After being discovered, he began a remarkable journey of survival, later using comics and art to confront trauma and find healing.
