Fall Convocation 2023 was a joyful celebration of dedication, achievement, and fresh beginnings at the University of 91̽»¨. On Nov. 16, in the heart of the Jack Simpson Gym, a crowd of cheering family and friends watched as over 1,100 graduands crossed the stage in two ceremonies, transitioning from their student days into proud U91̽»¨ alumni.

While celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2023, three individuals who have made significant contributions to the university and society were also honoured.

Colleen Bangs, BA ’03, senior director of Alumni Engagement at U91̽»¨, was awarded the Order of the University of 91̽»¨. She was recognized for her transformative leadership and consistent dedication to creating a positive work environment and reinforcing community ties.

Honorary degrees were bestowed upon twin sisters Sara Quin and Tegan Quin. This 91̽»¨-born, award-winning indie rock duo, known as Tegan and Sara, shared a powerful commencement address about their career journey and their dedication to LGBTQ+ women and girls, earning them a standing ovation.
